Chicken coop grass fire

Jacksonville, Ore. -- A grass fire sparked early Thursday morning in Jacksonville. Applegate Valley Fire District 9 responded to the fire on Highway 238 and Longnecker Road at about 3 a.m.

Fire District 9 says a chicken coop was destroyed in the fire and unfortunately some chicks perished. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Fire District 9 also wants to remind people to take caution this summer during fire season.
