Lawmakers are looking at a proposal that would take away Oregon's "no sales tax" status.

A state senate committee is discussing a 5% percent sales tax on goods and services. In the proposal, the new tax would mean a cut to income taxes.

Voters will have to pass the proposal however many believe it won't make the ballot this year.

Public testimony is scheduled for Wednesday, April 17th.
