Seattle, Wash. -- Seattle now has the highest minimum wage in the country.
The Seattle City Council passed an ordinance that bumps up the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
It was drafted by an advisory group of labor, business and nonprofit representatives convened by Seattle Mayor Ed Murray.
The plan includes a phase-in of the wage increase over several years, with special considerations for small businesses.
It takes affect in April of next year.
