Small plane crash in Northern California

Northern California -- A pilot who reported having engine trouble was discovered dead this morning in Northern California.

According to the Marin County Sheriff the plane had been flying from Brookings, en route to San Carlos, California.

The pilot reported engine trouble at about 9:30 a.m. and said he would try to make it to an airstrip in Novato. Radio and radar communications were lost shortly thereafter.

The crash caused a 40 acre grass fire in rocky terrain and it took emergency crews at least 4 hours to locate the wreckage.
