Phoenix, Ore. --  The founder of a missing children's foundation was out spreading the word Memorial Day weekend in honor of National Missing Children Day.

The day started in 1983 by president Ronald Reagan to remember kids who have gone missing.

Vicki Kelly is the founder of the Tommy Foundation, a non -profit that spreads awareness about missing children.

She said it's important to continue spreading the word, especially during national missing children day.

"It is a day to commemorate the thousands of children that have gone missing but we believe in miracles and miracles have happened."

Kelly hosted a balloon release at Fitchner Mainwaring Park in memory of children in the area who have gone missing, including Kyron Horman who's been missing since 2010.
