Update (6/17 8:00 a.m.) A Florence man and his 15-year-old grandson have been identified as the victims of an airplane crash Sunday morning off the Oregon coast.

Lane County sheriff investigators say Richard Munger was flying the single engine plane when it crashed 500 yards off the shore near Florence. Munger was killed in the plane crash and his 15 year old grandson, Benjamin Dressler, is missing.

Authorities were still searching for Dressler on Monday afternoon.

Florence, Ore. -- A small plane crash off the Oregon coast has left at least one person dead.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office said that a single engine plane crashed about 500 yards from shore near Florence around 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

The coast guard found one person dead and the search continues for a second occupant.

No word on what caused the plane to go down.
