Ashland, Ore. -- An Ashland fire engine will soon be making it's way thousands of miles across the nation and over the border.
Ashland Fire & Rescue will be donating one of their engines to their sister city in Mexico, (Guanajuato). Ashland Fire says they're donating engine 8811 to the city because they will be getting two new engines.
Representatives from their sister city will either be driving the engine all the way there or taking it on a trailer.
Ashland Fire says it will be a great addition for firefighters there.
"A newer fire engine, even though it's a 1991, it's still a newer fire engine for their fleet--probably their newest one would be this fire engine," said Battalion Chief Dana Salee.
The fire department says they maintain a great relationship with their sister city and that they've donated other fire engines to Guanajuato in the past.
Ashland Fire is expected to swap this engine with their new ones in late May or June.
