Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife predict the run of hatchery spring chinook would be one of the largest returns since the mid 1970's. Biologists site several conditions that make for healthy seasonal runs including favorable ocean conditions and successful fish passage. According to ODFW, the season will run from April 15 to July 31. The catch limit for spring chinook this year is two adult adipose fin-clipped salmon per day, and five adipose fin-clipped jack salmon per day. 2012 could be the most substantial run in the past 30 years.
