Parking lots were full and the mall was bustling, filled with people who spent hours searching for steals.

"We're all shopping and taking advantage of all the sales here," said shopper Elsa Becerra.

And sales she found. Becerra was excited after buying a peacoat for $11.

"A lot of sales, a lot of real awesome sales," she said.

"I'm excited for the deals, we'll see what we can find in there," said shopper Clemente Perez who was just entering the mall.

Analysts forecast the day after Christmas will be one of the top five busiest shopping days of the year.

"It's probably our top three," began Zumiez Store Manager, Kelly Stofflet.

"We have Black Friday, the Saturday before Christmas and then today, the day after Christmas, so yeah, it's a pretty big day," she continued.

A big day for stores and a big day for shoppers spending gifts cards they received this holiday.

"Probably 80-85% are exchanges and gift card sales, it's a lot yeah," said Stofflet.

Meantime, Elsa Becerra and her family shopped on.

"I'm so excited about my shopping and we still have more to go," she laughed.

Retailers are crossing their fingers for a last-minute bump in sales by offering die-hard deal finders bargains they can't pass up.

Retail sales are lower than expected this year. Experts say the bad economy, fiscal cliff, and recent tragedies may have played a role. It won't be until after new years that we'll know the exact numbers.
