Medford, Ore. -- A bizarre car accident on Interstate-5 in Medford has road crews perplexed.
According to the Oregon Department of Transportation, a Suzuki SUV was traveling southbound on I-5 just south of the Medford interchange when it crossed the median and ended up on top of the guardrail.
The fast lane on the northbound side was closed off for a short time because of the accident.
Northbound I-5 was re-opened to one lane while crews worked to remove the vehicle. Both southbound lanes were re-opened shortly after the accident, but due to the back-up, traffic continued moving slow due to the Fern Valley Interchange project at milepost 25 where I-5 merges back to one lane during construction.
We've added a map below with traffic conditions in the area of the accident.
Oregon State Police Troopers say they aren't sure what caused the car to cross the median or the extent of the injuries.
