According to a brand new press release from the California Department of Water Resources:

The February statewide snow surveys have confirmed that water content in California’s mountain snowpack is far below normal for this time of year.

Data shows that the snowpack’s statewide water content is at only 37 percent of normal for the date.

Snowpack information is used to help the state forecast the amount of water available for agriculture, power generation, recreation and stream flow releases later in the year.
