The Senate turned down what is known as the "Flash Mob" bill that would create a brand new crime of "aggravated solicitation".
Senate Bill 1534 would criminalize tweets that solicit law breaking flash mobs. This is from SB 1534-
(2) A person commits the crime of aggravated solicitation if, with the intent of causing two or more other persons to engage in specific conduct constituting a crime, the person uses an electronic communication to command or solicit other persons to engage in that conduct at a specific time and at a specific location.
The bill was sent to the Judiciary Committee for review. Some are bothered by the notion that twelve Oregon leaders signed it. Many concerned that it would evolve into a way of controlling free speech. Lawmakers jsay they want to curb a growing trend before it hit's home.
