Medford, Ore. --- A Jackson County Sheriff's Lieutenant who ran for sheriff against his boss and incumbent Mike Winters in May has been fired from the department.
Lt. Bob Sergi was let go Monday, according to a captain with the department.
The Oregon Department of Justice was investigating Sergi in the weeks leading up to the primary for alleged illegal solicitation of campaign funds.
The ODOJ found insufficient evidence to prove Sergi committed a crime so they dropped the case.
The Sheriff's Department said it could not comment on the firing citing policy on keeping personnel matters confidential.
