Grants Pass house fire deemed suspicious

Grants Pass, Ore. -- Officials with Rural Metro Fire Department in Grants Pass are calling a Sunday night house fire human caused and suspicious.

The home at 4709 Redwood Avenue had no power or heat source.

It was also scheduled to be torn down after a DEQ permit was issued for a new septic system on the property.

According to the county assessor’s office, the structure, built in 1926, only had a value of about $18,000.

The property did not have a contract for fire protection services and according to a press release, the owner, Alvie Crisp, will receive a bill from rural/metro fire for services rendered.
