New numbers from the city of Medford show how many people were banned from city parks last year. 171 individuals were banned from 11 city parks, more than half of those, at Hawthorne Park. Officers say the bans are put into place to help create a safer environment.
"If you are being banned for the first time it's 30 days, if you are banned again it's 60 days, and after two times it's 180 days," said Sgt. Derek Parks.
Authorities say a more vibrant park will keep illegal activity out. City officials say they're working on a master plan to re-design the park to make it more family friendly.
