The city of Jacksonville now owns four historic properties previously managed by the Southern Oregon Historical Society.

The Jackson County Board of Commissioners approved the transfer Wednesday.

Officials say they hope the transfer will ensure better maintenance and care of the properties.

A deed for each of the properties will be issued to the city within 30 days.
