Jackson County wraps up fair

Central Point, Ore. -- Sunday marked the last day of the Jackson County fair.

Jackson County Expo Manager Dave Kollermeier said despite the heat there was an increase in attendance this year. The increase is something he attributes to a bigger and better carnival, free entrance for kids 12 and younger, free parking Friday, and the music festival within the fair.

"It was almost impossible to navigate around here Friday and Saturday evenings just around the grounds it was that packed," Kollermeier said.

He said the 1,000 feet of misters they put in this year and the additional 40,000 square feet of shade were definitely put to good use.
