Medford, Ore. -- Fireworks are legal in the City of Medford until Sunday and Medford Police, along with other agencies across our area, do have extra patrols this weekend making sure people are following the rules.

Medford deputy chief Brett Johnson said, "Make sure you're setting them off in the right areas and that you are only setting off approved fireworks, if it goes off the ground and goes boom it's probably not something that's legal."

If you are setting off fireworks legally be careful of any dry grass or brush because it can easily catch on fire.

Fire crews have responded to a number of grass fires this weekend across the Rogue Valley because of fires started from fireworks.
