CORDELIA, Calif. -- A Medford resident was is in the Bay Area as a 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit near Napa California.
Shane Schmidt says he is staying about 6 miles away from the epicenter of the quake and was quickly woken by quake.
"I woke up, and definitely was some movement going on. I looked over at my sons bed because there's 2 beds in the room and his bed look as if it was rolling on the ocean, literally looked like waves were going through the mattress. And I said something to him, he woke up and thought I had been standing there shaking the bed. [We] looked over to the table where we had some soda and pop cans that had been misplaced and fallen a little bit," Schmidt said.
While the quake did damage to buildings and roads around Napa, Schmidt says he did not see any damage in his immediate area.
