Under a new regional plan, Medford's historicHillcrest Orchards could soon become a new high-density residential area.
Medford's planning staff have been doing anaylzing the future growth of the city.
If officials approve the new residential plan, there would be more than 4,000 acres of residential land added to the city, which would also include land around the Centennial Golf Course.
However the city has some challenges with the plan. The land has been used as orchards since the 1880's and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
The Medford city council will meet Thursday evening to discuss the future of the orchards.
The meeting will take place at Medford City Hall at 5:45pm. The public is invited to attend.
