For the first time in two years, Democrats in Oregon are taking up more House seats than Republicans.

Governor John Kitzhaber delivered his "State of the State" address
Monday.

He started by thanking distinguished Oregonians and veterans for their service.

30 Senators and 60 Representatives were also sworn in.

With the new Representatives in place, Democrats have both the House and Senate majority.

While lawmakers elected new officials and passed rules, they won't officially begin the Legislative Session until February 4th.
