Like many people celebrating New Year's Eve, Michael Knight may be at the bars.

"I'm expecting at least a shot of tequila," laughed Michael Knight.

"Or at least a good time in remembrance of what we did last year," he continued.

Area bars are expecting roughly 700-people to walk through their doors.

"It usually gets packed in here. It usually gets packed everywhere downtown," said Howiee Hawkins, owner of Howiee's on Front Street.

"This is the biggest day of the year for bars, the lounge and restaurant industry...any celebratory function is going to promote business downtown," said Bruce Miller, Havana Republic Operations Manager.

All the bar business will mean lots of drinks for lots of people.

That's why Medford Towing and Rapid Repo will be offering free and discounted tows to get partiers home safely.

They plan to set up in downtown Medford at Main Street and Riverside.

"It's just a good way to give back to the community to keep our streets safe," said Phil Brady, Senior Driver at Medford Towing.

Speaking of keeping the streets safe, Medford Police are cautioning would-be drunk drivers to think twice.

"If you get behind the wheel, you will be arrested, you will be put in jail and that's not where you want to end up with your new years eve," said Lieutenant Curtis Whipple with the Medford Police.

That thought will be in the back of Michael Knight's mind as he, his friends, and thousands of other people ring in the new year.

"You gotta prepare, you definitely gotta prepare," he said.

We're also told 5 Star Taxi will be giving out free rides all night long in the Medford area this New Year's Eve.
