Members of the Oregon National Guard's 41st infantry brigade will head to Afghanistan in 2014.
Guard officials say around 18-hundred soldiers are scheduled to be deployed.
The 41st brigade's headquarters are in Clackamas, with battalions in Medford, Ashland, Springfield, Portland, Forest Grove, and Bend.
Reports say the deployment will be around 400 days, for a security mission in Afghanistan.
If all 18-hundred are sent on the mission, that would be the second-largest deployment from this state since World War II.
