Troopers with Oregon State Police were extremely busy New Years weekend, trying to keep the roadways safe.

The agency reporting they had a total of 73 D.U.I.I. arrests between  Friday, December 28, and Tuesday, January 1 at 6 am.

That number is up from 53 arrests reported during the same period last year.

Both the Central Point and Grants Pass Command Offices each reported 3 D.U.I.I. arrests New Years Eve.

The Gold Beach and Klamath Falls offices each reported 2 D.U.I.I. arrests.

While celebrations have started to wind down, authorities say if you ever planning on drinking, plan ahead and find an alternative ride home.
