Talent earns title of Bee City USA

Talent, Ore. -- The city of Talent has earned itself the new title of Bee City USA. They're the second city in the nation to receive the title.

The national organization recognizes Talent because of their promise to educate residents on the importance of pollinators, plant pollinating flowers, and eliminating pesticides that could be harmful to pollinators.

"Every third bite we take is due to a bee pollinating something or another pollinator pollinating," Together for Talent committee member Dolly Warden said. "So if we don't take care of them and continue on the track we're on of bees being killed every year we're not going to have any food."

Talent applied to become the second Bee City USA this year. The city council unanimously passed the resolution.

The other Bee City USA is Asheville, North Carolina.
