Today Oregon's unemployed could face new challenges as the federal government cuts back how long people can receive unemployment benefits.
The changes mean a cut-back from 99 weeks of federal benefits down to 63 weeks and emergency unemployment checks could be gone altogether at the end of the year if congress doesn't take action, leaving 30,000 Oregonians without a weekly check.
One unemployed woman we spoke with says aside from dwindling federal help, the job market is tough enough.
"They need to find a way to get jobs down here and wagering jobs, ways to make a living, not just 8 bucks an hour," said Melinda Blegen.
