Voter's must turn in their registration by Tuesday. The Jackson County Elections Center closes at 4 pm.

What you might not know is that this year you also can register online, up to the very last minute  Tuesday night.

Exercising your right to vote:
"I think voting is important," says Matthew Jones, who just moved from Southern California to Oregon and says he's not missing out on this years election.
"I needed to re-register. I figured my voice would be more effective here than in Los Angeles," he tells us.

Registration deadline is Tuesday.Jackson County Clerk Chris Walker tells us voter registration cards must be dropped off at the Jackson County Elections Office -- by 4 Tuesday afternoon.
"I would highly suggest you take care of that early," says Walker.

But if you can't make it to the office...this year, the deadline is getting a small extension... provided you can get online.
"You can register online at the Secretary of States website. It's a convenient service that we're using for the first time in Oregon for a presidential race," continues Walker. She tells us you can register from the comfort of your own home at www.oregonvotes.gov all the way up until 11:59 p.m. October 16.

"If you want to exercise your right to vote, you have to be registered to vote," says Walker, "so take care of that by tomorrow."

Taking a look at this years voter's pamphlet it's 134 pages, including not only the the 2012 presidential race, but also numerous state candidates and 9 measures.
Not to mention county  commissioners and congressional races.

"I think this election has a lot riding on it," remarks Jones. 2012 proving to be a full year for voters.

Again that website is www.oregonvotes.gov. You have until 11:59 to register online and 4 in the afternoon, closing time, at local offices. You also can mail your registration as long as it has a valid postmark of October 16th.
