Following the release of the so-called 'Perversion Files', new lawsuits are  likely to damage the image of the Boy Scouts of America but are businesses who sponsor the organization at risk and is it likely they'll pull their support from the scouts?

Some 1,800 confidential documents called the 'Perversion Files' spanning decades, show hundreds of possible sex abuse cases within the ranks of the Boy Scouts of America. There are more than 100 in Oregon and several right here in the Rogue Valley.
Medford resident, Richard Allen Backes who was a scout leader and associate adviser for Explorer Post Five was convicted of sodomizing a young neighborhood boy in 1979 while he was registered with the BSA. His records and many like his had been kept under a blanket of secrecy and are only now being released under a court order. Meantime, Intel- one of the largest corporate donors, has cut ties with the BSA because of a gay ban within the organization. Nationally, Boy Scouts of America tops $300 million a year in revenue much of it coming from donors big and small.
