Robbing Siskiyou County of some of it's most prized assets and  1.2 million dollars worth of gold.  No one even knew it was gone until morning.

The gold sat in the courthouse for decades as a proud display of Yreka's history - a city originated in the gold rush days of the mid-1800s.

Investigators followed some 100 leads in case  resulting in a warrant for the arrest of 49 year old David Dean Johnson of El Cerrito, California.  He turned himself in, in Yreka at 11-o'clock Monday night.

51 year old Scott Wayne Bailey of El Sobrante, California is still on the loose.  The Sheriff's Department is offering a $50,000 reward for any tip that leads to his arrest and conviction.  If you have any information on the suspect, call the Sheriff Department's tip line at 530-841-2900.
