Grants Pass, Ore.-- Library volunteers from the City of Grants Pass are pleading for help. They don't have enough money to continue funding all four libraries in Josephine County.

Saturday they were out gathering signatures for a petition that would help the current non-profit libraries create a library district.

Volunteers said this way the county can help create stable funding.

Patricia Narcum-Perez said it would work like this:

"The funds that are received to the county are put in a fund for the library called the library district. And just like a school district is funded then the money could be spent by the library only."

They need 8,500 signatures by May 8th in order to get the measure on the fall ballot.
