Making it through tough situations...that's what the Survival Store specializes in. But after the "Y 2k craze"...some people might be reluctant to talk about being prepared. Marcy Young owner of Southern Oregon Survival says "I think people are happy to have someone to talk about it with, so they feel, I'm not paranoid." Thanks to shows like "Man versus Wild though, people are more aware of wilderness survival. " It's more than just the supplies you will get at the survival store that can help if your lost somewhere like this in the wilderness, it's the knowledge of how and when to use them, this is two great examples...a survival guide and expert and can show you key points to look at...or this multi use tool that has a mirror for reflecting a whistle and compass, but once again you have to know how to use it..." Marcy Young says "the best things is to come to the classes we have survival classes here...the knowledge is more valuable than any item you can buy in the store. " So when it comes to what you should think about first when it comes to survival. Young says "water..you have to have drinking water" Here is another example of where knowledge meets the tools, you know you need water...and know that you can't just dip your water bottle in any stream and get clean water...so what tools will help you purify it. While the worst case scenario may never happen, being prepared is always a good feeling.
