Governor Kitzhaber has officially declared a state of emergency across Oregon Fridaymorning.

Following several of the large-scale wildfires burning right here in southern Oregon.

The announcement authorizes the use of National Guard helicopters as well as other state personnel and equipment to fight the blazes.

The Barry Point fire burning in Lake county, Oregon and Modoc county, California sparked the declaration from the Governor.

Most of the state help will go to this fire in particular.

The Barry Point fire has now burned about 125 square miles and moved 10 miles across the California border.

Crews are hoping to have the blaze contained by August 25.
