A new top dog is coming to Ashland and residents hope he has an answer to the city's top issues.

Dave Kanner is his name, he's the former Jackson County deputy administrator and former county administrator for Deschutes. He's got a lot to do when he starts work Monday. Kanner's job will be to run the city and report to the council but he'll have to be creative with the residents who expect their leader to think outside the box especially when working around homeless issues. While he's known to be blunt, residents arent too concerned about it. While Kanner was fired last year from his position as administrator in dechutes county the Ashland city council was more than happy when choosing dave kanner as their new city administrator. Ashland officials cite his accomplishments in Jackson County, where $56 million dollars worth of capital projects were done on time and under budget. residents i spoke with say they hope he brings similar success to the city of ashland. Kanner starts monday, he comes on during budget time so that will be his focus right out of the gate. other things on the list involve updating the boadband master plan, the mount ashland ski expansion, the transportation system and water redundancy and costs.
