Ashland residents could soon be paying more for city garbage rates. The city is set to pay a consulting firm nearly $10,000 to investigate a proposed 23-percent increase by Recology-- the company that provides sanitary service for the city of Ashland.

The city council would first have to approve the rate changes before they take effect.

NBC 5 will continue to follow the progress of this investigation.
