After three months of renovation the Ashland Plaza is now back open to the public. The plaza went under a $140,000 beautification project. Several trees were planted in place of sweet-gum trees that were taken down in January. The ground is now also covered entirely with bricks. People we spoke with in the plaza say they enjoy the new look.
"It looks a bit cleaner, brighter and there's more space. I'm glad they didn't change the classics like the fountain because that's the best part. They didn't change too much, i think they did a good job," said Leah Siskind.
The city will unveil a new piece of public art in the plaza this Friday as part of the First Friday Art Walk.
