A fun day in the sun quickly turned tragic this weekend. The body of a man who was swept away by the Rogue River Saturday afternoon was located on Sunday.
Search and rescue dive teams in Josephine County located the body of 51-year-old Rodney Clayburn near Galice.
We're told Clayburn was with friends trying to swim across the river behind Morrison's Lodge. Witnesses said he made it half way before losing energy, then he screamed for help.
"One of our guests was down here by the water and she said that he almost got to a shallow part where he could stand up and almost got to where his friends were at but the water was just to swift and took him down the river," said Lesley Pratt, the Manager of Morrison's Lodge.
Search and rescue crews located Clayburn's body down stream just after 12 Sunday afternoon.
