Dexter's Rescue Remedy Shelter has helped more than 400 dogs since opening their doors 9 years ago.

They have been at their current location since September 2011.

But their landlord says they enough is enough and wants them out.

Charlot McClendon started rescuing dogs nine years ago.

"I started helping at some other rescues & I saw a lot of really bad stuff. So I justed started resucing a dog here and there and before you know it, I was becoming a rescue," said McClendon.

In 2011 she moved to her current property in Horse Creek, California.

The grounds are perfect for the 36 current adoptable dogs with 40 acres to run around.

McClendon says she was recently served an eviction notice from her landlord, claiming he wanted 50 % of her profits, something she wasn't willing to do, considering she runs a non-profit.

"I tried to explain to him and he asked why I did it if I didn't I didn't do it for the money, and I said I do it for the love of the dogs, they get homes, they are happy," McClendon explains.

But her landlord, Randy Murieen, says that's not the truth.

"They refuse to honor the rental agreement, which I can show you [complaints] of their dogs running loose," Murieen said.

The two will both be in court Tuesday to deal with the eviction.

McClendon will ask a judge for a 40-extension to her eviction so that she can find a new property and continue rescuing dogs.

McClendon is asking for the public's help in search of a new property, and asking for volunteers who would be willing to move fences around the property.

If you know of a current rental space with 10+ acres, or are able to provide some assistance, you can contact the rescue at 530-496-3276 or e-mail McClendon at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
