The Central Point City Council will decide Thursday night on an ordinance that would prohibit the exchange of property between drivers and pedestrians.

If the council approves the ordinance-- both motorists and pedestrians would face $75 fines for the exchange of money, food, or other items.

Central Point Police say the ordinance was proposed after citizens complained about an increase in transients who panhandle at the entrance into town from I-5.

The meeting at begins at 7 PM Thursday in city hall.
