Some new ideas in the works to increase the available parking in downtown Medford. The city of Medford is considering a plan to
add additional parking spaces along Main Street by converting parking from parallel spaces to diagonal. The areas affected would be on Main between Riverside and Front Street.

In order to revamp the parking and add a bike lane on the north side of the street, the city would have to reduce Main Street from three lanes to two.  The Parking Commission will take up the plan at City Hall on Thursday.

The proposed changes are just in the research phase.  The city would have to conduct a traffic study before making a recommendation to the City Council. The possible changes would net an additional eight to ten parking spots downtown.
