The city of Phoenix is considering new restrictions on cat owners and people who trap stray felines.

A citizens' advisory group has been studying the issue for several months after a resident complained about a property owner who was trapping pet cats and leaving the animals without access to water or shade during hot summer weather.

While allowing pet cats to wander aimlessly is prohibited under city law, regulations on animal trapping currently do not existed.

The advisory group will present thier ideas on how to handle the issue Monday night at 6:45.

It will be held at the Phoenix Public Works building at 1000 South "B" Street and is open to the public.
