For the first time since a fatal Grants Pass shooting we hear from someone who knew the victim 29-year-old Daniel Baker well.

She won't tell us her name and she didn't want to go on camera, but this young female tells us she had known Baker for over 13 years.

"It is obvious that he struggled with drugs and other things.
You know, at heart Daniel he was a good guy, he tried but sometimes he just got lost."

On Thursday around 1:30 P.M. police say 29-year-old Daniel Baker was shot and killed by 30-year-old Laurence King in the parking lot of a Grants Pass gas station.

King was later arrested in Central Point and arraigned today. He is being charged with aggravated murder with a firearm and felon possession of a firearm.

Baker also has a very lengthy criminal history. In the past he was charged with identity theft, assault, and possession of meth.
