A number of community forums about how to make southern Oregon safer will take place Thursday.

The Jackson County Gang Task Force is hosting the first of ten community forums and hopes to hear from residents on perceptions and opinions of the presence of gangs throughout the Rogue Valley.

The forums will allow residents to voice thier concerns and fill out a short survey about how serious they believe the gang problem is locally.

Officials will use the data to help decide where to place gang prevention resources.

If you are interested in attending the forum will take place Thursday night at 6:30 at the Eagle Point Library.

The Klamath Falls Police Department will be hosting a community watch meeting.

Klamath Falls detective Peter York will teach the community about self-awareness in possible dangerous situations.

After the presentation the department will answer questions that community has regarding safety.

The community watch meeting is being held at the Klamath Falls Police Department in the Jeff Ball Community Room at 6:30.
