Online there's a Craigslist post threatening those responsible for the recent burglaries in Josephine County.

There are a lot of upset home owners because of the thirty reported burglaries around the Merlin and Grants Pass area. Some are even making threats online like this one on Craigslist, warning the burglars that if they catch them in the act they will be shot. After the story of the the two month string of break-ins aired on NBC 5 some residents began getting serious. So serious, they posted this ad on Craigslist, "WE ARE ARMED AND WILL SHOOT YOU! If you try and come near our homes you will not walk away ALIVE,We are looking for you!!!!!!!!!!!" We spoke with a gun shop owner who teaches new gun owners what they can and can't do when it comes to protecting their property or another person.
He recommends non-lethal methods of home protection.
but he's ready to protect his family and property by all means even if that's lethal force. Oregon's self defense laws allow you to use deadly force if you feel your life is being threatened.Under-sheriff with Josephine County says the best method might be the easiest- talking with your neighbors and creating a neighborhood watch program.

They're not the only ones concerned about the situation.

Sheriff Gil Gilbertson will advise what public safety services could look like under the worst-case budget scenario and will then discuss what Oregon law says your rights are when it comes to using force to protect your home, your family and yourself.
