Ashland, Ore. -- Southern Oregon University President Dr. Mary Cullinan was in Ohio on Wednesday where she's a candidate for president of Youngstown State University.

On Wednesday afternoon she was in the hot seat taking questions from the university community.

The public forum was streamed on the internet. Youngstown State University, has already posted video from public forums with the two other job finalists on their presidential search page.

Dr. Cullinan's video is expected to be put up soon.

It was just last week that the board of trustees at YSU learned about the tumultuous year at Southern Oregon University.

From budget cuts, to faculty contract negotiations, to Dr. Cullinan and two of her top administrators being involved in a confidence vote at SOU, all of it was on the table and up for discussion.

Cullinan acknowledged the difficult year at SOU.

She said someone even asked her this morning if she thought she was jumping ship.

"Well you know I've been there for 8 years. That's really not jumping ship. I've had a long run. Presidents don't typically last that long," said Cullinan.

During the public forum, she said the presidency at y-s-u would be an amazing opportunity and that she loves being in a more urban setting.
cullinan is one of three finalists for the top spot at y-s-u.
