Missing elderly Myrtle Creek man found dead

Update (9:10am 03/18): The Douglas County Sheriff's Office reported on their Facebook page that Young's vehicle was located at around 6:30pm Monday in Umpqua Oregon.

Sheriff's Deputies, Fire District 2 and BLM responded and located Young who was deceased. Young's body was found not far from his vehicle lying in Hubbard Creek.

According to the Facebook Post, the Sheriff's Office does not believe foul play was a factor, but that the investigation is still on-going.

Myrtle Creek, Ore. -- The Douglas County Sheriff's Office was seeking your help in locating 78 year-old Vernie Young of Myrtle Creek.

Deputies say they received a report from Young's daughter that he never returned home Monday after leaving early that morning.

Deputies say Young left his Myrtle Creek home around 3:30am Monday morning driving his maroon 1999 Chrysler 300 with Oregon license plate 951EYW.

Young is described as 6 foot tall, 180 lbs, grey hair, blue eyes and has an eagle tattoo on his left arm. Young may have been wearing jeans, a plaid shirt and black vest.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information on Young's death to contact them at (541) 440-4471.
