Medford, Ore. -- Could the "big one" be coming for Oregon?

A big earthquake, the topic of a big discussion Thursday.

Dr. Althea Rizzo with the Oregon Office of Emergency Management spoke about how to prepare for a quake.

The predicted cascadia subduction zone earthquake is expected to have magnitude 9.0.

Dr. Rizzo says there's a 37% chance its coming to Oregon in the next 50 years "People frequently think of that cascadia as a coastal problem with he tsunami but really it's going to impact the entire pacific northwest."

Dr. Rizzo says the most important thing is to be informed and be prepared with a survival kit sufficient enough for at least 3 weeks.

Dr. Rizzo will host another forum Friday, April 18th, at the Josephine County Fairgrounds at 1pm.
