Emotions were definitely running high in the courthouse in Josephine County.
Especially for two women.
Two moms both grieving their sons, just in different ways.
Clarice Bishop sits and waits in the Josephine County Courthouse.
"She says" Donald is my son I have never had any problems with him at all. He has helped me out every way he possibly can."
While the mother of Laron Estes, Kathleen Jackson fought back tears.
"There's a four letter word that describes Laron L-O-V-E." says Jackson.
Two mothers brought together in a courtroom, both in support of different outcomes.
Bishop says "I'm nervous, I haven't slept good."
Donald Easley and his mother lived at the same home up until he was taken into custody Monday for the shooting death of Laron Estes.
It just escalated for the last two years.
Clarice can't speak of the incident that caused the death of Estes.
But she says there is a long track record of harassment, one particular incident a month ago she said made Donald fear for his life.
Bishop says "Laron Estes pulled my son over the fence and beat the living tar out of him, i spent 5 hours in the hospital with him."
She says she will continue to stand by her son, just like she did in 2009 when he was in court for fatally shooting a different neighbor.
Bishop says "His character is good, everybody that knows him will back in up 100%."
That case was ruled self-defense.
A grand jury decided it was reasonable for Easley to be in fear for his life.
A ruling of self-defense this time is something Kathleen Jackson is hoping will not happen.
She says her son Laron wouldn't hurt anyone.
Jackson says "he loved everybody, never knew a stranger from the time he was a baby on up, he would just do anything for anybody."
Two different mothers, hoping for two very different outcomes.
Out of their hands, It will be up to a jury to decide.
Both mothers are expected to be back in court September 24th.
That is when a preliminary hearing for Donald Easley will be held.
Funeral Services will be held this weekend for Laron Estes this weekend.
