Just before 7pm Monday night the rural Medford home at 2081 Knowles Road caught fire.

Neighbors acted quickly, breaking down a fence blocking the driveway to the home to investigate the fire and check on the homeowner.

Officials said that due to the location of the home, their response time was delayed. "When we got here, we found a single family residence fully involved with fire. Knowles road is a small, windy, rural road and so it took our fire trucks a while to make access to the property. Once we did, the house was well involved. At this point it looks like the house is a total loss." said Justin Bates, Deputy Fire Chief for Medford Fire.

Officials report only minor injuries to the homeowner.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
