A fire consumed a home in Medford that officials say belonged to a man who died from a heart attack on Saturday. The fire broke out Sunday afternoon in the 1000 block of South Stage Road and according to officials, at least half of the building is a complete loss.
Officials say family members were going through the man's belongings, had briefly left the home before the fire started, then received a call from a neighbor saying the home was in flames.
Battalion Chief, Brian Fish said a passerby saw the fire and went in to save the dog inside.
Fire officials say everyone got out alright, they believe the blaze started in the left side of the home which they described as similar to a duplex. The cause is still unknown.
