Dojo owner wants to march in the Gold Dust Parade in June but is taking heat by some residents and a city councilwoman because of his criminal past and political ties.
Three years ago Andrew Lee Patterson cut his ties with the National Socialist Movement. Now his 2003 conviction of a racially motivated assault against two homeless men and an East Indian motel owner is being brought to light by Gold Hill Councilwoman. Gold Hill City Councilor, Christine Alford who wants to bar the man from taking part of the city's annual parade says he hasn't built his reputation. The man is a business owner, running a martial arts studio in the city. Patterson says he's not interested in anyone's politics. He wants to make a positive impact on his community and says he would sit out of the June 2nd parade as long as his students from the dojo can march.
